Spend winter day by seeking amethysts

We open Amethyst Mine for the winter season 1st of December and we warmly welcome visitors to the Lampivaara. Please see the time schedule for the visits under header Winter.

To minimize the risks and to give as safe experience as possible, we will follow the safety guidelines of the Finnish government. Our staff will give more detailed information and guidelines on the spot.

We take extra care to keep hygiene level high. There has been added more hand disinfecting points all over the area. Since Lampivaara is located in the middle of National park it is out of water supply system and therefore normal hand washing with soap is not possible. We recommend to sanitize hands every time when passing the disinfecting point. At the mining area it is recommend to wear own gloves.

Lampivaara Amethyst Mine

 A fascinating travel destination all year round

The amethyst of Lampivaara, located in Pyhä-Luosto Lapland, Finland, was formed about 2 000 million years ago in the bowels of the ancient mountains. There is now a special gem mine on the top of the hill that will sustain for the hundreds of years. Visitors are welcome!

Dig your own gem stone of Lapland, purple amethyst, during your visit to Amethyst Mine. On the top of Lampivaara hill you can admire maybe the most beautiful landscape of the area. Upon the arrival refreshing berry juice will be served. During the storytelling moment you will learn about this fascinating stone. Afterwards everyone may search and dig own amethyst stone and take it with as a memento.
