Lampivaara Amethyst Mine
A fascinating travel destination all year round
The amethyst of Lampivaara, located in Pyhä-Luosto Lapland, Finland, was formed about 2 000 million years ago in the bowels of the ancient mountains. There is now a special gem mine on the top of the hill that will sustain for the hundreds of years. A unique experience is waiting for you!
Dig your own gem stone of Lapland, purple amethyst, during your visit to Amethyst Mine. On the top of Lampivaara hill you can admire maybe the most beautiful landscape of the area. During the storytelling moment you will learn about this fascinating stone. Afterwards everyone may search and dig own amethyst stone and take it with as a memento.
OPENING HOURS
SUMMER 2025
2.- 22.6. Monday - Saturdays every hour 11 am to 5 pm
23.6.-10.8. daily and every hour from 11 am to 5 pm
11.8.-30.9. daily and every hour from 11 am to 4 pm
In October from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm
Tickets from Lampivaara café upon arrival. There is no need to book the tickets in advance.
WINTER 2025-2026
In November from Tuesday to Saturday one departure from Ukkoluosto parking lot 12:30 pm
Open 1.12.2025 - 5.4.2026 daily.
Open 6.4.2026 - 19.4.2026 from Mondays to Saturdays.
Departures:
- Luosto center 11:10
- Ukkoluosto parking lot 11:30 am and 2:30 pm
- Lampivaara café 12 pm and 3 pm
Tickets from our online shop or Amethyst Shop. If you will come to Lampivaara café on your own, there is no need to book the tickets in advance and you can pay them on the spot in Lampivaara café.
